Roughness Testers
for a precise measurement of surface roughness
In the industry, multiple methods are used to achieve the desired smoothness and roughness in surface processing. For a successful result, a precise roughness measuring device is important to be able to extract the correct values in every situation and depending on the industry and project.
Standardized and precise roughness measurement
According to international standards, our roughness measuring devices determine the following parameters:
- Ra (Average Roughness): This parameter is based on the arithmetic mean of all heights. It represents the average deviation of the profile from the mean line.
- Rq (Root Mean Square Roughness): This parameter is calculated by the mean of all deviation squares.
- Rz (Mean Roughness Depth, also Ten-point height): The roughness measuring device measures the height of the highest profile peak and depth and calculates the value from the sum within a single measuring distance.
- Rt (Maximum Roughness Depth): Within the total distance, Rt represents the value from the lowest point to the highest peak.
Measuring the smoothness and roughness of surfaces makes an important contribution to cost reduction and ensuring product and material quality. The applications range across various industries, such as material manufacturing, automotive industry, packaging and construction industry, laboratories, and mechanical engineering. But we also offer roughness measuring devices for your private projects in different qualities and price ranges.
Our models measure using the stylus method. A diamond tip moves at a constant speed over the surface to be measured and captures the stylus profile from the surface. This allows for the determination of various roughness parameters. Each measuring device complies with the required DIN standards. Upon request, we are happy to provide all devices with a test report.
