Versatile vibration meter for acceleration, velocity and displacement

SaluTron Vibro 260

The SaluTron Vibro 260 is a versatile vibration meter that captures vibration acceleration, vibration velocity and vibration displacement. It thus covers the entire spectrum from low-frequency unbalance to high-frequency rolling-bearing and gear-tooth damage. The measuring tip is pressed firmly against the machine housing by hand; depending on the selected parameter, the reading is available after a few seconds – for the complete assessment of the machine condition on motors, fans, pumps, compressors and machine tools.

Features

  • Compact, lightweight design for one-hand measurement directly on the machine
  • Piezoelectric acceleration sensor with fixed measuring tip
  • Captures all three vibration parameters: acceleration (peak), velocity (RMS) and displacement (peak‑to‑peak)
  • Acceleration in two frequency ranges (10 Hz – 1 kHz and 1 – 15 kHz) for early detection of bearing and gear damage
  • Evaluation basis for vibration velocity according to ISO 10816 / ISO 20816
  • Easy-to-read 3½-digit LC display
  • 15 seconds hold function for the reading, then automatic switch-off
  • Battery operation (2 × LR44 / SR44), approx. 10 h continuous use
  • For the assessment of unbalance, misalignment as well as bearing and gear damage

Measuring principle

The SaluTron Vibro 260 works with a piezoelectric acceleration sensor. The measuring tip is pressed firmly against the non-rotating machine housing by hand – as close as possible to the bearing and in the direction of the expected vibration (radial or axial). The sensor converts the vibration into an electrical signal, which is filtered in the instrument and – depending on the selected parameter – displayed as acceleration, velocity or displacement.

Which parameter provides the best information depends on the speed and the expected damage pattern: displacement is meaningful in the low-frequency range for assessing unbalance, velocity is the central quantity for the general running condition, and acceleration reacts particularly sensitively to incipient rolling-bearing and gear-tooth damage. After the measurement, the reading is held for 15 seconds; the instrument then switches off automatically. For a reliable condition assessment, the measurements should be carried out regularly at the same marked measuring points and under comparable operating conditions.
